APM men show off the two-metre-long batik python before releasing it to its natural habitat on Friday.

SARIKEI: A two-metre-long batik python (reticulated python) that swallowed a duck at Jalan Sare, here was caught by Civil Defence Force (APM) personnel last Friday.

The presence of the reptile was noticed by the complainant who was feeding his livestock around 7.35am. He subsequently contacted the office of APM Sarikei for assistance.

Upon arriving, the team found that the python had swallowed a duck that was in the coop.

It took the team about 20 minutes to catch the reptile as it was acting aggressive and was fighting back when the team wanted to catch it.

Once captured, the python vomited the duck that it consumed.

The reptile was taken back to the APM Sarikei control centre before it was released into its habitat far from the settlement.
