KUCHNG: Sarawak Energy has procured more than two million units of personal protective equipment (PPE) to help protect frontliners against Covid-19.

The PPE comprises a million disposable face masks, one million of disposable gloves, 20,000 KN95 respirators, full body medical protective clothing, and goggles.

The items from the first of two shipments were handed over yesterday to the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) for distribution across Sarawak.

Sarawak Energy’s chairman, Datuk Amar Abdul Hamed Sepawi, and group chief executive officer Datuk Sharbini Suhaili handed over the first batch of disposable gloves and goggles to Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, who is also SDMC chairman.

“Sarawak’s medical frontliners risk themselves every day across the state, so we want to help them remain as safe as possible.

“This shipment will boost Sarawak’s supplies of critical disposable PPE used by the thousands daily,” Sharbini said in a statement yesterday. He said while the company, SDMC and the state Health Department ensured that the frontliners went about their work safely, the company also expressed its appreciation for their efforts.
