Two more new cases

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded two new positive Covid-19 cases on Saturday, bringing the total number of positive cases in the state to 555.

According to Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), the two cases were from the Kuching and Samarahan districts.

It also said one case had recovered and was discharged from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) on the same day.

“Thus far, the total number of Covid-19 cases which have recovered and discharged is 524, or 94.41 percent,” it said in a statement.

SDMC added that on Saturday,   26 new person under investigation (PUI) cases were reported while 17 cases were still awaiting laboratory results.

Based on the Sarawak Health Department statistics, 14 cases were undergoing treatment at hospitals to date, with none in intensive care unit (ICU) or requiring breathing assistance.

SDMC said   5,867 applications for inter-district travel were received by all police headquarters statewide, bringing the cumulative total to 121,747 applications.

“Of these, 112,102 have been approved while   9,645 have been rejected,” SDMC said.

It also stated that on Saturday, the surveillance team monitored 1,853 locations including supermarkets (308), restaurants (365), factories (35), banks (195), government offices (90), hawkers (26), public markets (125), and places of worship (125), recreational places (59), construction sites (23), and others (502).
