MARUDI: Two motorcycle theft suspects were detained by police on Tuesday during an operation codenamed ‘Ops Lejang’ in Beluru.

According to Marudi Police chief DSP Mohd Ruslan Mat Kib, the duo, aged 34 and 39, was arrested by Marudi police from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Also seized during the operation was a motorcycle, SM Sport brand, which was reported missing and believed to have been stolen since June 25 this year at Jalan Bakong-Lapok.

“Based on preliminary check on the motorcycle, police discovered that the chassis number had been tampered by the suspects as they avoided from being detected by the police,” he said.

Another suspect is also detained in the operation.

Both suspects had previous drug-related offences.

A remand application under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CPC) has been made and the case is being investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code.
