BINTULU: Two motorcyclists were killed when their machines collided at Jalan Lot Pembesaran Kampung Jepak, here on Saturday evening (Aug 14).

Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said 21-year-old Mohammad Nur’Qayyim Iqfan Qasimi Dinie died at the scene in the 10.15pm incident.

The second victim, Muhammad Najib Narizan, 18, was confirmed dead at the Bintulu Hospital emergency ward.

“Initial investigation found that during the incident, the motorcycle ridden by Mohammad Nur’Qayyim was said to be heading from Kampung Jepak towards Kampung Lot Jepak before losing control and colliding with the motorcycle ridden by Muhammad Najib.

“The impact of the head-on collision caused both victims to be hurled onto the road,” he said on Sunday.

Alexson said the slippery road condition after the rain and lack of street lights in the area were among the factors that led to the fatal collision.

“The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he added.
