ROBAN: Police have arrested two men within an hour for allegedly selling illegal lottery numbers during an ‘Ops Dadu’ last Saturday (June 20).

Saratok district police chief DSP Mordani Tanin said the raid operation was carried out by a team of police personnel from Saratok district police headquarters (IPD) and Roban police station.

The first raid took place in Roban New Bazaar around 2.30pm after the team raided the premises on suspicion of selling illegal lottery.

“The team arrested a 21-year-old man in the premises and seized a phone, six pieces of paper with lottery numbers and three pencils.

“Meanwhile, the second raid, that took place around 3.30pm in an eatery at Roban Bazaar, Jalan Feeder, resulted in the arrest of a 47-year-old man who had previous criminal records,” he said in a statement.

Mordani pointed out that the team also seized a phone, a printer unit, two rolls of printing paper, three pieces of paper with lottery numbers in the eatery.

Both individuals and seized items were then brought to Saratok IPD for further investigation and actions.

The case is being investigated under Section 4(A)(a) of the Common Gambling Open House 1953.
