Two nabbed for substance abuse

SIBU: Two men were arrested at Jalan Tiong Hua after being suspected of being involved in drug abuse activities yesterday.

According to the Sibu District police chief ACP Zulkifli Suhaili in a statement released today, the two suspects were aged 25 and 31.

They were detained after getting arrested in the car park in front of  a house by the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) from the Sibu Police Headquarters.

“During the inspection of a vehicle witnessed by both suspects, a small bag was found.

“Upon further inspection on the bag, a transparent plastic packet was found and there were 25 transparent plastic packets each containing lumps of suspected Methamphetamine (gross weight: 6.70 Grams) inside the bag.

“The local market value of the drug seized was approximately RM650,” he explained.

According to him, the results of the initial screening test found that the suspects were positive for drugs.

“Arrests were made under Section 39A (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act (DDA) 1952 and Section 15 (1) (a) of the DDA 1952. Both suspects have no record of past offences,” Zulkifli said.
