KUCHING: Two families with schooling children have been selected by Hope Place to receive donations from the Food Aid Foundation Malaysia, a Kuala Lumpur based non-governmental organisation (NGO).

The children were each given two pairs of school shoes and socks which were delivered by Hope Place founder Kelvin Wan recently.

According to Wan in a statement yesterday, the first family living in a small rented room at King Centre, has three children aged 12, 10 and 9 years.

Meanwhile, the second family lives in a very rundown house without a proper toilet at Kampung Sungai Nada. The family has two schoolchildren (aged 12 and 13 years). The father is a tuberculosis (TB) patient, and the sole breadwinner is the mother who works as a cleaner.

The families, especially the children were not only grateful but also overjoyed to receive the gifts.

Hope Place currently supports more than 190 families and carries out its aid delivery once every three months.
