Two new cases recovered and discharged

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded no new positive Covid-19 cases on Thursday (June 25), with the total number of positive cases in the state thus far remaining at 570.

In a statement on Thursday, the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said that two new cases had recovered and been discharged from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) on Thursday.

“The total number of positive Covid-19 cases which have recovered and been discharged is 537 or 94.21 per cent,” they said.

They stated that 16 individuals were still receiving treatment at isolation wards of hospitals. Of these, seven were at SGH in Kuching while nine were at Bintulu Hospital. 

Thus far, the virus has caused 17 deaths in the state since the first positive case was reported on March 13.

“Thirty-one new person-under-investigation (PUI) cases have been reported, and three are still awaiting laboratory results,” said the committee.

They disclosed that 63 persons-under-surveillance (PUS) had been checked into hotels on Thursday to undergo quarantine, bringing the total number of PUS at 13 hotels to 959 while 16,619 PUS had completed their quarantine period.

SDMC also reported that 2,049 premises had been surveyed so far for their compliance with directives under the recovery movement control order (RMCO), consisting of supermarkets (343), restaurants (449), factories (18), banks (184), government offices (78), hawkers (26), public markets (103), places of worship (107), recreational places (60), construction sites (24), and others (657).

This involved 623 RMCO compliance surveillance teams consisting of the Royal Malaysian Police, Malaysian Armed Forces, Civil Defence Force, People’s Volunteer Corps, and so on.

“Thus far, there have been six roadblocks in five districts in conjunction with Op Benteng, that is, in Lundu (two), Bau (one), Serian (one), Sri Aman (one), and Lubok Antu (one). From the six roadblocks implemented, a total of 751 vehicles have been checked,” they said.
