Two new clusters in Pakan district

KUCHING: Two new clusters in Pakan district were declared by the State Health Department on Sunday (Sept 11).

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said that both of the clusters recorded were community clusters.

The Sungai Sawa Cluster involves a longhouse located at Sungai Sawa, Batu 3, Jalan Pakan.

“A total of 74 individuals had been tested where 27 of them were positive including the index case.

“All the positive cases were admitted to Sarikei Hospital, and Covid-19 quarantine and low-risk treatment centre (PKRC) in Sarikei district,” said SDMC.

The second cluster declared by the SDMC is the Nansang Wak Cluster which also involved a longhouse located at Nansang Wak.

“A total of 102 individuals had been tested where 41 of them were positive including the index case.

“The positive cases were also admitted to Sarikei Hospital and PKRC in Sarikei and Meradong districts,” the committee added.

Meanwhile, the committee also announced the end of six clusters namely Lunyim Cluster in Telang Usan district; Tembok Miri Cluster in Miri district; KINDA KM18 Cluster in Bintulu district; Kampung Sebat Melayu Cluster in Lundu district; as well as two clusters in Kuching district which are Jalan Airport Cluster and Jalan Datu Abang Abdul Rahim Cluster after no new cases were recorded within 28 days.

As of today, there were 137 active clusters in Sarawak with 16 clusters recording 251 new cases.
