Two new deaths in Sibu

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded two new Covid-19 deaths in the district of Sibu today.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the latest deaths brought the toll to 116 people.

The 115th death involved a 61-year-old local man who was treated at Sibu Hospital for chest pains.

“An rT-PCR test was conducted on March 29 following the man complaining of breathing difficulties and he was confirmed positive for Covid-19 on the same day.

“His health condition worsened and he passed away on April 5. He had comorbidities such as high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease and chronic kidney disease.”

On the 116th death, SDMC said it was an 86-year-old local female, who was treated at Sibu Hospital for fever.

“An rT-PCR test was conducted and she was confirmed Covid-19 positive on April 3. Her health condition deteriorated and she passed away on Tuesday.

“She had chronic lung disease, high blood pressure, diabetes and kidney failure.”
