MIRI:  Rumah Sabang Empungan, KM12 Jalan BLD Sungai Sawai, and two oil palm estates in Suai Niah here have been placed under immediate lockdown after a Covid-19 case was detected recently.

The lockdown, which started today (Jan 25), will last until February 8, said Sarawak Transport Minister Datuk Lee Kim Shin, who is also minister in charge of Miri Division Disaster Management Committee (MDDMC), in a statement.

Lee also reminded the public in Miri to observe the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the Ministry of Health to ensure the safety of all.

He also advised them to take appropriate precautions to control the spread of the virus.

“It is important to maintain good social distancing, wash hands with soaps or sanitisers often and cover your mouth and nose with face masks properly when around others in public places this including eatery premises.

“People should avoid ‘3C’ areas, namely crowded places, confined spaces and close conversations and instead practise washing hands, wearing face masks, practise caution by avoiding handshakes, staying home and seeking treatment if you are developing symptoms related to Covid-19,” he said.
