LAWAS: Two men were arrested after they were found positive of amphetamine and methamphetamine during an operation held here yesterday.

Lawas District Police chief, DSP Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said the suspects were separately detained at Kampung Paterikan, Merapok and Pangkalan Feri, Jalan Kuala Lawas.

He said while checking the suspects, police seized two packets of drugs weighing 4.20grammes from one of the suspects who hid it in his right trousers pocket.

The case is being investigated under Section 12(2) and 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act, 1952, said Abang Zainal.

Meanwhile in Limbang, a civil servant is among the eight individuals arrested by police for allegedly involved in drug abuse activities yesterday.

Acting on information received, a police team from the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) raided a house in Batu Biah at around noon and detained all eight suspects, aged between 25 and 47 years old.

Limbang District Police chief, Superintendent Mohd Bukhori Saffai confirmed the arrests and said seven of the suspects were found positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.

He said the police also seized a plastic packet filled with crystalline substance, believed to be syabu, weighing 0.19 grammes and worth about RM50 from one of the suspects who is a lorry driver.
Mohd Bukhori said the case would be investigated under Section 12(2) and 15(1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act, 1952.
