MUKAH: Two foreign workers from Press Metal Sarawak (PMS) Mukah were recently named recipients of Indonesian Migrant Workers Award 2017. Choa Wei Keong, the Group General Manager of Press Metal Sarawak Sdn Bhd, informed that the two were Rudi Wardoyo and Saefu Rokhman. Choa disclosed this in his speech at the PMS Annual Dinner 2017 held at Kingwood Resort here on Jan 26.

“It is fitting that tonight we want to celebrate our staff and I want to congratulate Rudi and Saeful for being awarded the Indonesia Migrant workers Award for the year 2017.

“It also goes to our other staff members who will be receiving our role model awards, including the Samalaju Site Service Award,” he said.

Thanking the workers and all those involved in the alluminium smelting company, Choa said PMS’s journey in Sarawak has its own share of challenges. “As a young organisation, we are learning and growing. We believe that the principles we operate in PMS Operations, namely commitment, competency and contribution will allow us to achieve successes for our staff, our community and the people of Sarawak,” he said. Presently, PMS has two plants – PMS Balingian and PMS Bintulu in Samalaju.

“When I first came to PMS, the road from Sibu Airport to Mukah was a free roller coaster ride. I still remember in 2016 when I first came to take over the leadership role in its Sarawak operations, the car ride between Samalaju and Balingian was longer than travelling from Sibu to Kuala Lumpur by air,” he said. Choa reiterated these difficult journeys reminded him about how tough and resilient PMS management and staff were.

“These difficult road trips are symbolic of the challenges PMS has to overcome as we buildup the company in Sarawak,” said Choa. Meanwhile, the guest-of-honour for the occasion was Balingian Assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi. There were also entertaining items from staffs and invited local artistes. Also present were PMS CEO Tan Sri Paul Koon, Group Executive Vice Chairman Koon Poh Ming, Group Executive Director Datuk PT Koon and PMS Balingian Executive Director Koji Waki.
