SIBU: Two roadblocks were set up at Sentosa Phase II Resettlement Scheme in conjunction with enhanced movement control order (EMCO) today.

Councillor Nazatusyima Bujang of Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) who represents the Sentosa Zone stated that the first day of the operation went on smoothly.

“Besides that, all the rat trails have been detected by the military and they are already installed with barbed wire.

“Members working on roadblocks as well as those guarding the exit have already been increased. Therefore, we are confident that EMCO will be able to go on without any problems,” she said here today.

According to her, the residents affected by the EMCO gave good cooperation towards her team.

“Thank you for the feedback from the residents at Lorong Sentosa Utara 5A this morning. Barbed wire has been installed and there are additional personnel deployed to guard the area.

“The rat trail at the wooden bridge route to Jalan Taza has also been barbed. Police have also patrolled the area to ensure that full compliance with standard operating procedures (SOP) and the EMCO restrictions.

“Together with the implemented EMCO, we will be able to break the chain of Covid-19 transmission,” he said.

Precautionary measure using barbed wire in the EMCO area.

With all rat trails that have been barbed wired, she believed this measure would be able to prevent the stubborn residents from escaping from the area.

“We want to ensure that the residents involved comply fully with the EMCO SOPs. At the same time, such measure can prevent them from leaving the EMCO area and could help in curbing the spread of the virus,” she said.

Meanwhile, she advised all residents involved to continue complying with the SOPs and work together with the authorities.

She also reminded parents to monitor their children during this EMCO period.

“Residents should not worry about their welfare as everything is prepared for. If there are any problems, residents can meet with the teams in-charge of the roadblocks. The important thing is to stay at home,” Nazatusyima added.

She also expressed her deep appreciation to the police, army and volunteers who worked 24 hours a day during these two weeks.

EMCO in the Sentosa Phase II Resettlement Scheme started from today at 12.01 am and would end on March 12 at 11.59 pm.
