Two suspects arrested for drug possession

Date:

KUCHING: Two suspected drug dealers may see the gallows at the end of the line after narcotic police arrested them for possessing more than 50g of drugs on Thursday.

The duo, aged 27 and 32, were arrested on suspicion of engaging in substance abuse in a hut at Kampung Midin, Semariang here around 10am.

District police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah, who confirmed the case, said the police seized a plastic packet containing crystalline lumps and powder believed to be syabu, which was found on the floor.

Both the suspects, drugs weighing 52.38g and a motorcycle, were taken to the police station for further action.

He pointed out that the duo tested positive for drugs and background checks found that one of them has two past records.

Ahsmon said the case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the mandatory death sentence, if convicted.
