KUCHING: Some 153 recipients were conferred state awards and medals by Head of State (TYT) Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud at Dewan Besar during an investiture ceremony held at Astana Negeri Sarawak here, yesterday.
Leading the list of recipients was Head of the Neurosurgery Department of Sarawak General Hospital, Dr Albert Wong Sii Hieng who was conferred the Pegawai Bintang Sarawak (PBS) award. Dr Wong is from Sarikei.
The other two PBS recipients were Dr Jong Yuan Hsun and Assan bin Mohamad.
There were 13 recipients of the Pegawai Bintang Kenyalang (PBK), 14 Ahli Bintang Sarawak (ABS), 24 Pingat Perkhidmatan Bakti (PPB), 29 Ahli Bintang Kenyalang (ABK), 31 Pingat Perkhidmatan Terpuji (PPT) and 39 Bentara Bintang Sarawak (BBS).
Also present during the investiture ceremony were TYT’s wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Ragad Kurdi Taib, Assistant Minister of Community Wellbeing, Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, Assistant Minister of Utilities (Rural Electricity), Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports, Datuk Snowdan Lawan Deputy State Secretary (Rural Transformation), Datu Jaul Samion, First Malaysian Infantry Division Commander, Major General Datuk Stephen Mundaw, Consul General of Brunei Darussalam in Kuching, Yang Mulia Pengiran Krtini Pengiran Tahir and Consul General of Indonesia in Kuching, Jahar Gultom.
