TYT confers state awards to 103 recipients

KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud today (Nov 17) conferred various state awards and medals to 103 recipients at an investiture ceremony at Astana Negeri Sarawak.

Leading the list of award recipients was Director of the Security Division of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas), Lt Col (Retired) Mohd Melintang Abdullah who was conferred the Darjah Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Kenyalang Sarawak Johan Bintang Kenyalang (JBK).

He had previously served in the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) for 36 years and had participated in United Nations (UN) peacekeeping missions in Liberia, Sudan and Somalia besides being a UN Military Liaison Officer to the African Union ( African Union) from 2009 to 2012 while the second JBK recipient was Counselor Suhaili Abang Abu Samy.

Besides that, Pingat Pentadbiran Awam Johan Perkhidmatan Cemerlang (JPC) was awarded to two recipients, namely the Director of the State Monitoring and Implementation Unit (SIMU) of the Sarawak Chief Minister’s Department, Abdul Rahman Sebli Logo @ Senusi and the Director of the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), Samat Junai.

Nine recipients received Pingat Pentadbiran Awam Pingat Perkhidmatan Cemerlang (Gold)

(PPC); six each received Darjah Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Sarawak (PBS) and Darjah Utama Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Kenyalang Sarawak Pegawai Bintang Kenyalang (PBK); and three received Pingat Pentadbiran Awam Pingat Perkhidmatan Bakti (silver) (PPB).

During the ceremony, 24 recipients were awarded the Darjah Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Kenyalang Sarawak Ahli Bintang Sarawak (ABS); ten received Darjah Utama Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Kenyalang Sarawak Ahli Bintang Kenyalang (ABK); 13 received Pingat Pentadbiran Awam Pingat Perkhidmatan Terpuji (bronze) (PPT); and 28 received Darjah Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Sarawak Pingat Bentara Bintang Sarawak (BBS).
