TYT invited to attend Nuzul Al-Quran in Lawas

KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud received a courtesy visit from the state-level Nuzul Al-Quran 1444H/2023M programme management committee at Demak Jaya on Thursday (March 30).

The purpose of the visit led by Deputy Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi was to invite Abdul Taib and his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Raghad Kurdi Taib to the state-level Nuzul Al-Quran ceremony which will be held on April 7 at Masjid Besar Darul Ma’Mur in Lawas.

The Sarawak Islamic Council has selected Lawas as the venue for the annual state-level Nuzul Al-Quran event which will begin with maghrib prayers followed by iftar, tazkirah, isya prayers and tarawih.

The event, the name of which means ‘Revelation of the Quran’ takes place in the middle or towards the end of Ramadan.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and his wife Datuk Amar Puan Sri Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang, Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and his wife Datuk Dayang Morliah, heads of departments, community leaders and some 1,300 local residents will attend the event.

Also present during the courtesy visit were Sarawak Islamic Council chairman Datuk Misnu Taha, state Mufti Datuk Kipli Yasin, Sarawak Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) director Ustaz Khalidi Ibrahim and Limbang Resident Unus Tambi.
