KUCHING: There is no issue with regards to the appointment of Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar as the eighth Head of State, said Datuk Abdullah Saidol.

“I think that any news regarding his appointment should not be an issue because it is in accordance with the Constitution,” asserted the Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs, Information and Sarawak Public Communications Unit – UKAS).

Abdullah, who is also Semop assemblyman, said he welcomed the appointment of Wan Junaidi as the eighth Head of State, saying he was confident that Wan Junaidi would perform his duties effectively.

“We welcome the new Head of State and hope that he can carry out his duty well for Sarawak, which is aggressive in various development activities,” he told reporters at a blood donation drive at Plaza Merdeka Shopping Mall here today (Jan 30).

On a related note, he said he had personally met Wan Junaidi on Monday (Jan 30) and the latter had conveyed his appreciation to all media practitioners.

“UKAS will look into organising a special interview with the new Head of State to enable the local journalists to meet and to get to know him better,” he said.

Abdullah also said Wan Junaidi has always wanted to hear more and update himself about the current developments in Sarawak.

“Probably, he will be meeting the people and attending some programmes soon,” he said.

Wan Junaidi, 78, assumed the position as the eighth Head of State on Jan 26, replacing Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud.
