KUCHING: Bukit Saban assemblyman-elect Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas has given assurance that the new Sarawak government will honour its “Sarawak First” commitment.

In his New Year message on Christmas Eve (Dec 24), he said that Sarawak’s dignity, pride, and rightful position

and rights as a founding member of Malaysia would be restored.

“Let us close ranks. Let us all play our respective roles and responsibilities for Sarawak to move up the notch in progress, stability, unity and prosperity.”

The former deputy chief minister added that the hurly-burly of the state polls has ended and the people had decided.

“Allow me to say a big thank you for the great support to the state Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government.

“You have chosen to vote for stability and a bright future for all, especially our youths.”

In the just-concluded state polls, GPS coasted to a landslide victory, winning 76 out of 82 seats.

Meanwhile, opposition parties Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) won four seats and Democratic Action Party (DAP) only won two seats.
