BETONG: The Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government has stamped its mark a stable and strong government.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said with the appointment of five ministers and six deputy ministers from GPS representatives in the federal cabinet, it will be a link between Putrajaya and the state government.

“The 15th general election (GE15) went smoothly and well. However, what is important after this, is that we must continue to empower our party.

“We have to start by empowering Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) first. It is an ongoing process starting at the grassroots level,” the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) quoted him in its report.

Earlier, Uggah who is Bukit Saban assemblyman, will receive funds amounting to RM200 million for development programmes in the area.

“We are still in the process of refining development projects that will have a high impact on the people,” he said.

Also present were Betong MP Dr Richard Rapu, former Betong MP Datuk Robert Lawson Chuat and Betong District Officer Alfred Geling Ason.
