SPAOH: Bukit Saban state assemblyman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah is focusing on development in his constituency.

Speaking at the Kampung Spaoh Hari Raya gathering here today, the focus would be on income generating economic activities and education.

“I am also banking on inputs from Betong MP Datuk Robert Lawson Chuat to assist me,” he said.

Uggah, who is also the Deputy Premier, said the economic activities would prioritise quantity and quality.

“When we can have these, we can expect good returns. I am looking at modern agriculture, food and handicraft production activities, among others, for our farmers and entrepreneurs.

“We must not forget the government is building an airport in Bebuling here to fly our products straight from the farm or factories to the markets.

“We will hold discussions this July on how we can assist all concerned to increase or improve their production and quality and how to pack their products properly for overseas markets. We hope they will give us their fullest support and co-operation,” he said.

On the next focus, Uggah said it would be education excellence.

“We want our next generation to be highly educated and to master new technologies.

“They will be the ones who will chart out and strategise even better and more development, progress and prosperity for us and the state. I have discussed this with the Director of the Rajang Teacher’s College Dr Abang Ismail Abang Julhi who is a local from Spaoh.

“A team will be formed to help students excel in their studies,” Uggah explained.

Uggah also thanked the Malay community here for giving their full support to him and other GPS candidates in the December 2021 state election.
