KUCHING: Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas took time to visit a Covid-19 quarantine centre for Person Under Surveillance (PUS) cases at a hotel here yesterday.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman’s visit was to assess the preparations for more returning students from Malaya, Sabah and Labuan.

Uggah said a total of 289 students returned to Sarawak yesterday with more to follow. He added that a total of 8,116 students had returned home so far.

He revealed that the Health Department had mobilised four teams to do Covid-19 swab tests for PUS cases at the 11 hotels in the city being used as quarantine centres.

The deputy chief minister was accompanied by Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian, Deputy State Secretary Datuk Ik Pahon and state Health director Dr Chin Zin Hing.
