MUKAH: Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Mukah Branch in collaboration with Tellian assemblyman Yusibnosh Balo is embarking on a community development programme to develop the economic potential in Tellian.

Yusibnosh said he has given his full backing to UiTM Mukah towards ensuring that the Ecotourism and Entrepreneurship programme in the Tellian constituency succeed.

“This programme is in line with my wish to see various related industries can be developed to benefit the locals.

“Our floating market in Sungai Tellian was commended by UiTM Mukah because it is indeed an attraction to visitors from outside and inside Mukah,” he said at the opening ceremony of an Ecotourism and Entrepreneurship Community Development Programme in Tellian today.

Yusibnosh added that the Tellian Floating Market was an initiative under Mukah Xtra and a new tourism product in Sarawak.

“This market acts as a sales centre for the villagers to market agricultural produce, seafood and forest products directly to the community.

The Tellian assemblyman was confident that the commencement of operations at the New Mukah Airport in April would open up opportunities for Mukah to become a major domestic tourism destination in the country.

At the function, Yusibnosh presented an allocation of RM115,000 to UiTM Mukah to finance the programme.
