BINTULU: Joy radiated on the faces of the underprivileged after receiving donations from Extrameal Bintulu’s charity Back to School.

Bintulu Extrameal founder Francis Ngu Hown Hua said about 180 children had been helped through the ‘Extrameal Bintulu Light Load 5.0’ programme in a number of selected villages since its operations a few weeks ago.

“About 180 children from disadvantaged and orphaned groups around Bintulu have been receiving help back to school 2020 over the past few weeks until yesterday.

“Our party (Extrameal Bintulu) has moved to the villages to give to those in need,” he said.

Among their villages are Japan Village, New Village, Penan Batu 10 Village, Jabai Village, Rpr Sibiew Slates, Kemunting Bridge Underground, Garbage Disposal and many more.

“The programme has become the annual routine of the Bintulu Extrameal and is the benefit of the organisation as the school year draws to a close,” he said.

Ngu said that with the help he provided, he could help the less fortunate to not drop out from school and become a knowledgeable human capital.

“With this donation, we hope it will brighten the group and give the children a new spirit here.

“I hope that more non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and communities can contribute together to the less fortunate in promoting charitable activities in this part of Bintulu,” he said.

Ngu said he was deeply moved when he saw the lives they had endured.

He said the experience not only drew his attention to the supply of help but it was also an experience that provided valuable teaching to all present contributors as there were still disadvantaged groups.

“We hope that these children can have a good school session and help ease their burden.”
