KUCHING: The impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the future of work will necessitate upskilling and reskilling while generating new opportunities.

Asian Strategy and Leadership Institute (ASLI) chief executive officer Danial Rahman said leaders should therefore understand AI trends, formulate strategies to harness its benefits, and address potential challenges through well-designed policies.

He said this during the Sarawak Centre of Performance Excellence (SCOPE) series on distinguished speakers which focused on the theme “Artificial Intelligence and the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals: Trends, Challenges & Opportunities for Leaders here Monday.

Danial highlighted AI’s evolution propelled by cloud computing, powerful chips, and extensive data sharing, underscoring its potential to drive progress towards the 17 SDGs, especially in areas where progress has faltered.

The event drew distinguished attendees including Datuk Buckland Bangik, Deputy State Secretary (Administration), SCOPE’s Board of Directors; Mersal Abang Rosli, Director of Yayasan Sarawak; and Datuk Laura Lee Ngien Hion, CEO of Development Bank of Sarawak (DBOS).

Participants from various sectors, including the state civil service, government-linked companies, and private industries, also contributed to the discourse.
