Undi18 system takes off

KUCHING: It’s finally systems go for Undi18. The Election Commission (EC) has completed the system to enable Malaysians aged 18 and above to vote.

This will see an additional 5.7 million voters at any general election called after January 16. A total of 5,718,760 new voters have been registered nationwide. 

The new voters have been certified and gazetted on Jan 14 under the Supplementary Electoral Roll (DPT) as of Dec 2021.

Malaysia will have an additional 1.2 million voters aged between 18 and 21 following the full implementation of the automatic voters’ registration system.

The newly registered voters include 25,220 voters who have changed constituencies and another 9,293 voters who changed their voter status or category.

Election Commission (EC) secretary Datuk Indera Ikmalrudin Ishak said the number of registered voters had also increased by around 40 per cent — from the current 15.8 million to a total of 21.5 million voters.

He added that the DPT on the EC’s website was now open for checking for six months from Jan 14 to July 13.

“The EC calls on citizens aged 18 years and above and any registered voters who have applied for a change of constituency or change of status to check their details,” he said on Friday.

He mentioned that these could be done by checking via the EC’s portal at “https://www.spr.gov.my/” my or https://mysprsemak.spr.gov.my, MySPR Semak application, or SPR’s Hotline at 03-8892 7018.

If their names are not listed, they can make a claim by filling Form C online at “https://www.spr.gov.my/” or visit the respective State Election office.”

In addition, he said that any registered voter who has checked and intended to object to the name inclusion could do so by filling in Form D and be present at the respective State Election Office.

The respective forms, Form C and Form D can also be downloaded at the State Election offices’ portal at “http://ppn.spr.gov.my/” and must be submitted to the state EC’s director office during office hours on any working day and during the checking period of the additional registered voters for Dec 2021.
