KUALA LUMPUR: Any driving licence issued by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) which is used by UNHCR card holders is not valid for driving any motor vehicles in Malaysia.

The Road Transport Department (JPJ) in a statement yesterday said this was in line with the Road Transport Act 1987.

“The JPJ is committed in ensuring that the rule of law is always maintained and will never compromise on any violation of existing road rules,” the statement said.

According to JPJ, a statement by the Home Ministry yesterday said that UNHCR card holders do not have any status, right and basis to make demands on the Malaysian government. – Bernama
