KUCHING: The Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) deserves a building befitting its status and sanctity, said Sri Maha Mariamman Temple president Shankar Ram Asani.

“Unifor is unique, should have its own building and funds to allow for those who practise other religions to have their religious functions and events conducted with dignity.

“There is nothing wrong for Unifor to be alienated the three-acre land for its building, to give the proper dignity for this body that serves a large group of people in Sarawak,” he said in a statement on Sunday.

Shankar stated that the RM70 million ringgit allocated for the complex was a fair amount and the three-acre land was a decent size for the complex’s building.
