DALAT: The Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) has been commended for its active roles in helping non-Muslim bodies in the state carry out their plans and activities.

Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said prior to the establishment of Unifor, the funds required for such purposes were mostly from minor rural projects (MRP) allocation.

According to her, in 2017 prior to Unifor, she allocated RM200,000 from her MRP funds to help finance the cost of site preparation for the new Sungai Ud Borneo Evangelical Mission (BEM) church project here.

“The amount was big because I never allocate that much so far, and when Unifor was established, I am very thankful for its important role,” she said at the handover of a RM100,000 grant for the Sungai Ud BEM Church building fund today.

Fatimah, who is also Dalat assemblywoman, advised the church to apply for additional funds to help it complete the project.
