Unimas attains 90.7 % graduate employment

KOTA SAMARAHAN: The employability rate for Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) graduates has reached 90.7 percent, the highest ever recorded by the university, its vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Mohamad Kadim Suaidi said.

He said Unimas is now the top university on the island of Borneo and is among 11 top universities in Malaysia, adding that last year 81 percent of its graduates secured employment.

“One of Unimas’ greatest achievements was to be recognised as among the top 1001 universities according to the Times Higher Education, World University Ranking,” he said at Unimas Gemilang Awards ceremony at the campus here yesterday.

He added that Unimas’ engineering and technology subjects were ranked 801 while its economics and business subjects were ranked 501 in the world, by Times Higher Education.

“Unimas was also placed 301 in the Young World University Rankings and given 201 placing by the University Impact Rankings,” he said.

At the ceremony 154 Unimas employees received Excellent Service Award, 25 received Long Service Award while 21 others were presented their retirement certificates. Also present at the event was Sarawak Federal Secretary Mohd Shahabuddin Omar. – Bernama
