UNIMAS’ delegation calls on Premier

KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg hosted the top management of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here today.

The visiting delegation was led by UNIMAS Vice Chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi.

The courtesy visit was to inform the premier about UNIMAS’ 77th Convocation Ceremony scheduled to take place from Nov 6 to 9.

Kadim said 3,898 graduates would receive their graduation scrolls and certificates throughout the seven sessions of the convocation.

“Of the figure, a total of 544 graduates consist of 64 Doctor of Philosophy (Phd) graduates, 450 Master’s degree graduates and the rest are Bachelor’s degree graduates,” he said.

“In addition, there are two new categories that produce the first graduates, namely, in the field of animation and the field of communication,” he said.

During the visit, a letter of re-appointment was also handed over to Abang Johari as UNIMAS’ Pro Chancellor for a period of three years starting from March 15, 2024 to March 14, 2026.

Also present were the chairman of the board of directors of UNIMAS, Tan Sri Datuk Seri Sulong Matjeraie and the deputy vice-chancellor of research and innovation of UNIMAS, Professor Ir Dr Siti Noor Linda Taib.
