Unimas strengthens collaboration with Indonesian partners.

KUCHING: Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) reached a new milestone in its internationalisation efforts by signing memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with Indonesian counterparts, Universitas Gunadarma in Jakarta and Universitas Brawijaya in Malang, East Java today.

Professor Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi, the Vice Chancellor of Unimas, presided over the ceremony alongside Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Kuching, Bapak Yonny Tri Prayitno, Rector of Universitas Brawijaya Professor Dr Ir Nuhfil Hanani and Rector of Universitas Gunadarma Professor Dr Eko Sri Margianti.

The MoU signings focus on Built Environment areas such as traditional architecture, theories of urban and settlement, conservation and preservation approaches, cultural interests and demands of the local communities of parties involved.

“Collaborations with international partners are well-planned for Unimas to achieve international recognition, and today’s event enhances the two neighbouring countries’ equally healthy cooperation spirit.

“All parties hope to bring impactful development to this part of the world through comprehensive and sustainable environmental studies, which are supported by a number of cultural parallels.”

Unimas is integrating expertise in areas such as Borneo Sustainability, Biodiversity, Digital Transformation, Environment and Green Technology, Community Health and Wellness.

These warmly welcomed partnerships are positioned to deliver additional advantages to the surrounding communities for many years to come.
