KUCHING: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) and Normah Medical Specialist Centre was signed on Wednesday to further bolster long-standing cooperation between the two parties.

The MOU signing ceremony was represented by UNIMAS vice chancellor Professor Datuk Mohamad Kadim Suaidi, while Normah Medical Specialist Centre was represented by its chief executive officer Datuk Dr Au Yong Kien Hoe.

In his speech, Kadim hoped the MoU would complement the strengths of both parties.

“This would also at the same time further boost health services in Sarawak through the collaboration of clinical services, medical education and research,” he said.

He added that such collaboration will highlight the southern part of Sarawak as an excellent medical and education hub in the Island of Borneo.

“This cooperation most certainly has its positive impact – aligned with the UNIMAS five-year strategic plan, an effort in enhancing global branding,” he pointed out.

The cooperation among two parties is a sign of UNIMAS’ readiness for public- private partnership, in line with the role of a university which not only acts as a place of learning, but also a place of producing future ready graduates,” he said.
