KOTA SAMARAHAN: Two Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) were yesterday (Sept 29) signed virtually between Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) with two strategic partners from Indonesia.

The MOUs were signed with Institut Keguruan Ilmu Pendidikan – Persatuan Guru Republik Indonesia (IKIP-PGRI), Pontianak and Universitas YARSI, Jakarta.

The signings involve collaboration between lecturers, involving students in work activities as well as sharing knowledge and expertise.

As such the Faculty of Cognitive Science and Human Development (FCSHD) of Unimas will offer an education programme in the near future.

With its strategic partner from IKIP-PGRI, it will give an opportunity for both institutions to collaborate internationally for the programme to continue to grow.

This MOU was virtually signed between Unimas vice chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi and IKIP-PGRI’s rector Rustam.

Apart from that, FCSHD which offers the Psychology Programme, will give opportunities and chances to staff and students in exchanging expertise, experience and ideas with Universitas YARSI.

Universitas YARSI has the high knowledge in the field of psychology, apart from other fields of learning.

This MOU was virtually signed between Kadim and Universitas YARSI’s rector Prof Dr H Fasli Jalal.

“It is hoped that the relationship between the two countries will be an example in terms of teaching and learning, research ecosystem as well as industry and community involvement.

“The education system has no borders; in addition to the increasingly fast broadband, then the mechanism to hold international programmes can be held more efficiently, economically and with quality,” Unimas said in a statement.

Unimas hoped that industry players, universities and international non-governmental organisations (NGOs) will be able to work together to develop a more resilient and sustainable society, especially in these difficult and very challenging circumstances.

Unimas holds a virtual MOU exchange ceremony with Universitas YARSI and IKIP-PGRI.
