KOTA SAMARAHAN: Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) Research and Innovation deputy vice-chancellor Prof Dr Wan Hashim Wan Ibrahim on Thursday launched the Smart Campus Integrated Operations Centre (SIOC) at its Faculty of Engineering here.

The establishment of SIOC is a result of Memorandum of Agreement (Moa) on October 18, 2016 between Unimas and its industrial partner Kiwitech Sdn Bhd, where they agreed to establish a centre by installing equipment inclusive of training.

The centre is equipped with Control Centre and Big Data Analytic Platform Engine to enable optimum functioning of the centre. This is in-line with Unimas continuing vision to be an institution that actively contributes to the development and growth of the education sector.

Earlier in his speech, Wan Hashim said the establishment of SIOC aimed to create a cooperating network between industries and the university as a hub to train the trainers (Train the Trainers) in Smart City Technology.
