UNIMAS pays tribute to outstanding staff

KOTA SAMARAHAN: Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) has once again hosted its annual Majlis Anugerah Gemilang Unimas (Excellence Award Ceremony) or MAGU to celebrate outstanding staff in the university.

Vice Chancellor, Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suadi, said the main objectives of the event which started in 2010 was to celebrate the recipients of the Excellence Award for the year 2021 in academics, management as well as service.

“With that said, Magu has now been a significant event to celebrate retired staff and those who will soon retire from Unimas as they have contributed well and served the university greatly.

“At the prestigious event, 23 award categories have been introduced in different fields including in academics, management, appreciation of staff with 172 recipients of the Excellent Service Award for the year 2021,’’ he said.

He was speaking at the Magu presentation in Dewan Tunku Abdul Rahman (Detar Putra) here in Unimas, on Wednesday.

He hoped the acknowledgement given by the university will help carry the standard of public service forward as well as transform the mind and work culture of Unimas as a whole.

Also present were the Federal Secretary of Sarawak, Datuk Amir Omar, Chairman of the University’s Board of Directors, Tan Sri Datuk Panglima Sulong Matjeraie and other representatives.
