KUCHING: The vaccine rollout in Muara Tuang is being speeded up with the establishment of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) vaccination centre (PPV).
Its assemblyman Datuk Idris Buang expressed his appreciation to the varsity staff led by its vice chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi.
“Through the bus transport service provided by Unimas PPV, it makes it easier for more residents in the Muara Tuang state constituency to receive their Covid-19 vaccinations.
“This will ensure that herd immunity can be achieved in August in line with the Sarawak government’s target,” he said when met during his visit to the PPV.
Idris also thanked the Samarahan Resident Office, District Office and the Division’s Disaster Management Committee.
He said the agencies have been proactive and effective in ensuring that the villagers, especially in Muara Tuang get vaccinated promptly.
On Thursday, a total of 194 people comprising residents from Kampung Mang (53 people), Kampung Nakong (38 people) and Kampung Baru Hulu (103 people) were vaccinated at the PPV.
They were brought using 12 buses provided by Unimas to receive their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.
PPV Unimas has been operating since June 14 and cumulatively, more than 50,000 people have been vaccinated at thecentre.
