KUALA LUMPUR: University Malaysia of Computer Science & Engineering (Unimy) is offering the Digital Technology Intensive Programme (Unimy DiTIP), especially for those who have completed their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination, to help develop a tech-savvy young generation.
Unimy vice-chancellor, Prof Datuk Ts Dr Mohd Razali Muhamad said the structured online programme offered three courses, namely, Basic Computing, Introduction to Programming and Introduction to Digital Arts and Design.
He said the programme would provide an opportunity for students waiting for their examination results to be exposed to digital technology in a short period of three months.
Mohd Razali said the programme was also open to individuals interested to increase their understanding of digital technology.
“These basic courses are introduced to promote digital skills that have become important in the current Industrial Revolution 4.0 era, in line with the development of automation and digital transformation that is highly imaginative and innovative.
“No matter what the industry, computer and digital skills are something very much needed to increase productivity and effectiveness.
“The scenario will be increasingly challenging, especially for the future generation who will inherit the country,” he said in an interview with Bernama recently.
He said Unimy offered a flexible approach, with the Unimy DiTIP to be held online from April 5 to June 25.
“Each course will take a month, so the participants can choose to take one, two or all three courses at once or in stages as long as these are being offered,” he said, adding that the fees for the programme are merely RM500 for one course, RM900 (two courses) and RM1,200 (three courses).
“The course fees are affordable, seeing that each module takes 42 hours,” he said, adding that Unimy was targeting up to 900 students by the year-end compared to the current 400 students.
The Unimy DiTIP is a continuation of the programmes offered by Unimy from foundation to doctorate level, covering eight areas of focus.
The premier digital technology university offers programmes such as the Computer Science diploma (Video Games Development), Bachelor of Computer Engineering with Honours, and the master’s degree. – Bernama
