KUCHING: Unity forged over the years has propelled Sarawak towards prosperity and economic growth.

In this respect a pivotal role has been played by past and present leaders, government bodies and private organisations in orchestrating various programmes and initiatives aimed at fostering patriotism and unity among the diverse population.

“This significant anniversary celebration serves as a testament to Sarawak’s journey, unity in diversity, and unwavering commitment to a future filled with progress and harmony,”said State Library Management Board chairman Datuk Dr. Abang Abdul Rauf Abang Zen.

He made these remarks while officiating at the Sarawak Maju Makmur Festival held at the State Library gallery today.

He emphasised that Malaysians, particularly the people of Sarawak, have flourished through the values of tolerance, understanding and cooperation rooted in the fabric of society.

“These programmes have laid a strong foundation for collective aspirations, with a shared commitment to making Sarawak prosperous and thriving by 2030,” he added.

He also highlighted the significance of preserving the national language and literature, promoting lifelong learning, ensuring digital inclusivity and championing sustainable development goals.

“These core principles are envisioned to continue guiding Sarawak’s journey towards progress and prosperity, particularly in a state as culturally diverse as Sarawak,”he said.

The festival showcases a wide array of activities encompassing language, literature, culture, and education, all aimed at nurturing and reaffirming the identity and heritage of Sarawak’s people.

Also present were Dr. Hazami Jahari, Director-General of Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka and Japri Bujang Masli, Chief Executive Officer of the State Library.
