Unity Government gives greenlight to renovate police headquarters

KUCHING: The Unity Government has approved allocations to renovate the Sarawak Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK).

On his official visit to the Sarawak IPK today (Jan 28), Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof announced that a revamping of the building and its surrounding areas will be made.

Therefore, the approved allocations provided under the Unity Government will be channelled toward renovating the headquarters at a cost of RM1.8 million and around RM499,000 for the Kuching District Police Headquarters (IPD).

In a statement, it also mentioned that the Sarawak IPK would have a sheltered futsal court; however, its cost was not mentioned.

The Unity Government has additionally approved financial assistance for the Social Welfare and Recreation Fund.

Also receiving allocations was the Police Family Association (PERKEP), for which the amount was not made public.

Also present were Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mohd Azman Ahmad Sapri and political secretary to the Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Hamzah Brahim.
