KUCHING: A vacant home was reduced to ashes in a fire today (Sept 16).
In the incident at Kampung Kolong 2 near Jalan Matang, here, the house caught fire at around noon.
The State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre said it received a call at 12.26pm and firefighters from the Petra Jaya Fire and Rescue Station were alerted.
“The complainant reported that a fire had broken out on the bottom floor of a vacant two-storey house.
“The operations commander reported that 70 percent of the house was destroyed in the blaze by the time the firefighters arrived,” the operations centre said.
It said the fire destroyed the top floor, leaving only the concrete structure on the ground floor standing.
The fire was extinguished at around 2pm.
