KUCHING: The Meradong area has seen significant road upgrades for a safer and more efficient network for its residents.

Sarikei MP Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii said the projects involved the upgrade of the road near Kelupu Chinese Cemetery at Mile 3, Jalan Mee Tee.

Additionally, improvements have been made to Jalan Ming Tee and Jalan Wong Lee Ing Kelupu.

“These roads have been upgraded as part of the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP), and it is hoped that these improvements will significantly benefit the people in rural areas,” said Huang recently.

Huang, who also serves as the Repok assemblyman, expressed gratitude towards all parties for their collaborative efforts, which ensured the timely and smooth completion of the projects.

“I extend my thanks to the contractors for adhering to the set schedules and quality standards as defined by the implementing agency and project monitors,” he added.

At a recent event, Sarikei Parliamentary Service Centre officer Gung Chiu Kion, representing Huang, officially marked the completion of the projects. Also present were Meradong and Julau District Council assistant engineer Churchill Barrak, along with other representatives from the service centre.
