MIRI: Three rural transformation projects (RTP) involving the upgrading of the Miri central market, vegetarian market and unity market along Jalan Brooke here are right on track.

The projects, costing RM318,000, are under the Piasau constituency.

“For the central market, which can accommodate a total of 35 traders, they can resume their business beginning March 15 as the upgrading work is expected to be completed on March 14,” said Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting today after visiting the sites.

Work on the vegetarian and unity markets, located opposite the central market, is expected to be completed by May.

Ting also disclosed: “About 40 to 60 per cent of the RTPs (under Piasau constituency) for 2018 have been implemented.”

Accompanying Ting were Miri Hawker Association chairman Chong Khi Chong and its vice-chairman Pui Peck Hee.
