Upgrading for Permai Lake Garden begins

SIBU: Package 1 of the major upgrade for Permai Lake Garden here with a total cost of RM3.388 million has begun.

According to Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) Chairman Clarence Ting Ing Horh, the project involves construction work on a 3 km cycling track and walking track.

“This package costing RM3.388 million will be completed in October 2023. It will see the addition of a 3km cycling track and upgrading of the walking track,” he said in his Facebook post yesterday.

Ting in his entries is seen witnessing the project handing over in a brief ceremony by SMC Building Control and Town Beautification Standing Committee Chairman Councillor Raymond Tiong to a representative of the contractor.

Ting also advised the park users to follow safety directions set by the council during the construction period.

Package 1 is part of a major upgrading work for the 20-year-old garden at a cost of RM8 million.

The upgrading work which was expected to complete in three-year period involves turning some of the areas into a science park that can be enjoyed by the children who come to the park as well as opening up more areas for car parks and activities.
