KUCHING: The upgrading of the Kuching Family Park landscape amounting to RM418,000 is expected to be completed by Dec 22 this year.

Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Islamic Affairs and Kuching North City Commission) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi explained the project was part of the commission’s special programme funded by the State Landscape Department.

“This is the first project that we implement this year and we chose Kuching Family Park because we want to create a conducive environment for the residents.

“We also hope the project will enhance the social integration as well as the wellbeing of the local community and help improve environmental sustainability,” he said after officiating at the earth breaking ceremony of the park on Saturday (Oct 16).

Dr Abdul Rahman added that the park would also serve as a recreational area. There would be a gazebo, walkways, playground as well as mini sports courts for football and sepak takraw activities.

“As the residents in this Kuching Family Park and its nearby areas are constantly increasing, we believe that this project needs to be implemented for their recreational activities.

“With this, I would like to thank DBKU for its effort in developing parks in the housing estates areas under its jurisdiction,” he added.
