KUCHING: The deteriorating condition of SK Merpati Jepang has prompted the school’s Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG) to take action.
In an opening ceremony at the school in 2017, Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg expressed his desire to build a new building equipped with the latest facilities to ensure that its students can study in a conducive environment.
On February 18, 2020, the school was informed through a meeting at the State Financial Secretary’s Office that the application for funds for a new building has been approved.
New Sarawak Tribune spoke to a few people for their comments about the new administrative block and upgraded academic block, whereby most hoped that construction work would run smoothly.
Some also hoped that with the new building and upgraded academic block would help students to be able to study better.

It is good for the next generation of students; they will be able to learn in a comfortable and conducive environment to improve their academic performance. With modern and sophisticated buildings, hopefully many more students would enrol in this school in the future.

I hope construction runs smoothly and it would be ready on time. This dilapidated school building needs to be upgraded. A new surau, science room, and classroom will help students to study better as well as provide comfort.
