KUCHING: The sport facilities in Batu Kawa were constantly being upgraded so that they can be used by all age groups.

Batu Kawa Assemblyman Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian said they would continue to monitor the facilities needed by the public in the area.

“This is why we are developing Ang Cheng Ho’s old quarry site into an innovation hub and sport that can be used by everyone in the community.

“We will find a suitable model to change the site so that it can be used by the communities here,” he said while visiting the FIFA 21 E-Sports Competition (PS4) at the Batu Kawa Unity Hall last Saturday (Jan 9).

According to Dr Sim, the government hopes that all the facilities provided will be used by the youths, middle-aged people and the elderly.

He commented that virtual games are indeed the choice of young people nowadays.

“Through this sport, players are able to learn about hand skills and eye speed. This has been part of the state’s plan through the digital economy which started from 2018 to 2023.

“The government will develop e-sports as well as provide suitable facilities to those who are into this kind of game,” he explained.

Dr Sim also mentioned that among the issues that have arisen related to this sport are the game permits and the suitable playgrounds.

“We will do our best to provide good facilities for these groups of people,” he added.
