THE internet connection at Tebedu’s Immigration, Customs, Quarantine, and Security (ICQS) Complex needs to be upgraded and improved, said Tebedu assemblyman Dr. Simon Sinang Bada.

He said that during his recent visit to Balai Krangan, they needed to fill out the Border Crossing Pass (PMS) form, which costs RM20 on the immigration webpage.

However, the process could not be completed because there was no internet service or weak internet signal.

“Therefore, I urge and appeal for the internet service at the Tebedu Complex to be upgraded and improved so that the issues I experienced do not recur,” he said while debating in support of the motion of appreciation to the Head of State today (May 9).

Dr Simon stressed that the Tebedu ICQS complex, which is an important entry point for goods and foreign nationals, reflected the country’s image.

Hence, any difficulties and complications in the service could impair performance and service standards.

He also said that the Tebedu ICQS complex was promised and approved with an allocation of RM100 million in 2021, however, until today, no progress has been seen in upgrading the complex.

Meanwhile, on the Greater Kuching Coordination Development Agency (GKCDA), he said that the implementation of the project was somewhat compromised and not as desired due to constraints on the capabilities of implementing agencies.

“They are burdened with other projects such as People’s Projects, RTP Projects, Ministry Projects, and Department Projects.

“Therefore, I propose that the Sarawak government increase technical officers such as engineers appointed to the ‘Jawatan Berasaskan Caruman’ (JBC) position so that the implementation capabilities of GKCDA Projects can be expedited in line with its main objectives,” he said.
